The evolution of the Spanish guitar, beginning with the nomadic Arabic lute, through North Africa and into Moorish-era Spain — is easy to forget. Today the guitar has found its way into a hundred other genres and musical contexts, from African to Country to Heavy Metal. Yet there’s something that just sounds natural in the Andalusian roots of the Spanish guitar and the Mediterranean music that developed from it.
On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we focus on the Spanish guitar…on a program called ECHOES OF SPAIN. Music is by
ROMERO, OTTMAR LIEBERT, JESSE COOK, BENEDETTI & SVOBODA, ANDRE GERAISSATI, BRENT GUNTER, AL-ANDALUS and CONSUELO LUZ.
