Dhyana is a Sanskrit word meaning the meditative path — one of the eight "limbs" of Yoga in the religious philosophy of India. At its heart, dhyana is a method for self-knowledge, with the ultimate goal of personal liberation.
These ideas have had a powerful effect on the music of India. Several times a year, we check in with artists working in this venerable tradition. It's a musical culture which has been adopted by a dedicated group of western artists, who bring this esoteric music to a wider audience.
On this transmission of Hearts of Space we focus on Indian contemplative and devotional music, on a program called DHYANA. Music is by WISE-McGRAW, VICKI RICHARDS, RASA, BENJY WERTHEIMER, MANDALA, and AL GROMER KHAN.
