When Columbus sailed to the new world for the king and queen of Spain in 1492, he couldn't have known that he would begin the most successful transfer of culture in history.
Today, Spanish is the 3rd most spoken language in the world, the guitar is one of the most popular instruments, and the Latin sensibility in music has brought us great popular dances, the fiery compas of Flamenco, the airy charm of Andean mountain music, the restrained passion of tango, and the relaxed sensuality of the Brazilian ballad.
On this 25th anniversary retrospective transmission of Hearts of Space, it's a journey in the Latin soundscape called DISTANCIAS, featuring the wonderful Argentiian musician GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA. Additional music is by OSCAR REYNOLDS, JASON McGUIRE, SOULFOOD & BILLY McLAUGHLIN, ANDRE GERAISSATI and BENEDETTI & SVOBODA.
