Deeksha...is a Sanskrit word for the "transfer of divine energy." In the West, we might call it a blessing, a transmission, or a spiritual healing.
Whatever you call it, in music you know it when you hear it, and there's a venerable genre of Indian music dedicated to it that's been embraced and extended by Western musicians. This week we return to the ardent, timeless, devotional sound of Indian music on a program called...DEEKSHA.
Music is by MANEESH DE MOOR, RASA, STEVE GORN and BENJY WERTHEIMER, MELANIE HUTTON and MARSHALL LEFFERTS, and STEPHAN MICUS.
