The American Southwest is a mythic landscape, hewn for eons by nature, and centuries by man. It's home to vast desert spaces, endless mesas and monumental canyons — and several distinctive American musical genres, among them a spacious, languid, yearning sound perfectly captured by the slide and pedal steel guitar. It's a sound we like to return to in the warm summer months.
On this transmission of Hearts of Space, we immerse ourselves in the subtle, chiming, floating twang of the steel guitar and the dobro, on a program called WEST BY SOUTHWEST. Music is by ERIC TINGSTAD, LEO ABRAHAMS, STEVE ROACH & ROGER KING, LANTERNA, CHAS SMITH, and DANIEL LANOIS.
