"Stuttering" bug in Radio Channel using Flip4Mac WMV

Dear Listeners:

We've received several reports from Mac OSX users with Flip4Mac WMV installed. This is 3rd party software allows you to play Windows Media streams with Apple's QuickTime player on the new Intel Macs.

When streaming the RADIO CHANNEL with this setup, after one program finishes and a new one begins the stream may start to "stutter."  We confirmed this behavior on our OSX systems using Flip4Mac.

We've submitted a trouble ticket to the Flip4Mac authors and should hear back from them soon. In the meantime, if you experience this problem, just click on the QuickTime Player "pause" button; after the stream stops, click the "play" button. The stream will resume without stuttering.

Pgm 798 "TRANSFORMATION" : Week of March 30th...

We move into the Easter season with this program of sublime, mostly European, sacred music. The program mirrors the stages of the Christian Easter celebration of the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Christ.

Starting with Latin chant from the LIBERA Boys Choir, we weave a sacred space with a modern version of a 17th century Easter classic by ALLEGRI, plus music by the contemporary Slovakian composer VLADIMIR GODAR,  Japanese composer SOMEI SATOH, 20th century French composer OLIVIER MESSAIEN, and  Los Angeles composer CHARLES KIM.

It's an Easter journey called TRANSFORMATION.

Back to the ole cosmic briar patch this week for an electronic spacemusic show. OK, it might be escapism, but then our fearless leaders are making such a mess of things here on earth, you simply have to consider spatial relocation.

Every spring we look forward to the week before Saint Patrick's Day. For the Irish, it's a time of cultural celebration; for us, it's another opportunity to saturate ourselves with the joyful rhythms, mournful strains and heartfelt melodies of Celtic music. With a repertoire enriched over the centuries by some of the finest musicians on earth, Celtic music renews itself in every generation by connecting us to essential, deeply human emotions.

On this transmission of HEARTS of SPACE, another program from longtime guest producer ELLEN HOLMES: a journey in the contemporary Celtic soundscape called THE NEVER ENDING ROAD.

This week we're moving into a new digital workstation to produce our programs. The old one served us well for over 10 years and it was past time to give it a rest! To give us the time we need to make the changes we're rerunning this show from 2005 focused on high quality ambient film music.

Some of the best (though not necessarily the biggest name) composers are here: THOMAS NEWMAN, JAMES HORNER, MARK ISHAM, LISA GERRARD, MYCHAEL DANNA, CARTER BURWELL, MARTIN TILLMAN, JOHN CORIGLIANO and recent Oscar and Grammy winner GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA. (We discovered him a long time ago and we don't mangle his name like they did on TV.)

It's the subtle and beautiful world of ambient film music on UNDERSCORE.

On the theory that if we don't dwell on it, winter will go away sooner, this week we turn our attention to our ongoing series of reports on the evolution of the electronic and ambient guitar.

We have contributions from several new artists and the usual gang, including MARCONI UNION and BOB HOLROYD from England, guitaristos DANIEL LANOIS, JON DURANT, SUMNER McKANE, LEO ABRAHAMS, and HAMMOCK. A spacey good time is had by all.
